Requirements
- Work must be entirely completed during the hackathon hours.
- Any code/assets used from others’ work must be referenced.
- Projects must be submitted on Devpost.
- All group members must be registered for the hackathon on Devpost and specify what they contributed to the project
- You must submit a 2 min (or less) video demo!
- You must be on a team of 2-4 people.
Prizes
Best Overall Hack
For the hack the judges found overall to be the most resourceful, innovative concept and implementation (whether that implementation is a prototype or coded project). Each team member will receive a special branded Axe Hacks hat!
Golden Hack
Did you strike gold? We are looking for a hack that aims to improve the lives of your fellow college students! This award goes to the project that best demonstrates its overall purpose and objective. Each team member will receive a special branded Axe Hacks t-shirt!
Most Technical Hack
Did you go above and beyond with the tools you used? Did your team learn and stretch themselves to complete your hack? Was your project idea portrayed well through the use of your technology? Each team member will receive a portable wireless Bluetooth speaker!
Best UI/UX
Let your creativity shine! Is your hack fun to use, cool to look at, or super accessible? This award will go to the project with a design that is unique, creative, and effective. Each team member will receive a Ring light!
Best Use of echo3D
Build the best 3D/AR/VR hack using the echo3D platform as part of your project to win 3 months of premium access to echo3D!
Best Use of Cloud Technologies
Did you incorporate cloud technology into your project? There are many tools out there, use at least one for a chance to win Best Use of Cloud Technologies! Each team member will receive a solar-powered dancing flower!
Best Use of GitHub
GitHub is one of the best ways to collaborate, develop code, get feedback, and show the world what you’ve built! Win this weekend’s Best Use of GitHub award by using a GitHub repository for your project’s code that stands out with a detailed ReadMe page, meaningful pull requests, and collaboration history. Each team member will receive a GitHub sticker pack!
Hidden Gem
Is your design or concept not fully formed but happens to be an amazing idea? This prize will be awarded to the project that has an idea with amazing potential! Each team member will receive Mochi squishy toys!
Most Popular Hack
All hackathon participants will have the chance to choose their favorite hacks during the judging period. The hack that receives the most likes will get to have the "Most Popular Hack" banner displayed on their project!

All code submitted for judging must have been written during the hackathon. -
Originality
Does it do something entirely novel, or at least take a fresh approach to an old problem? -
Execution
Is the hack usable in its current state? Is the user experience smooth? Does everything appear to work? Is it well designed? -
Usefulness
Is the hack practical? Is it something people would actually use? Does it fulfill a real need people have? -
Presentation
How well was the project presented? Did it make the hack more compelling? Did it give a good idea of its purpose? -
Learning
Did the team stretch themselves? Did they try to learn something new? What kind of projects have they worked on before?
